Enticing Bhutan Punakha Dzong
~ a key attraction in Bhutan

Also known as the Palace of Sacred Bliss is another of the iconic landmarks for Bhutan. It is here that the Kings receive their blessings and ceremonial scarves at the time of coronation. Construction began in 1636 by Bhutans founder Zhabdrung Ngawang who designed every detail of the temple.

It was the original capital before it was moved to Thimphu in the 1950’s. It is located alongside the confluence of the Mo Chu (father) and Po Chu (mother) rivers.
